Dispelling weapons

Dispelling weapons are military devices for neutralizing magic. These dispelling devices operate by a principle similar to an interference ward, but are significantly more powerful. A dispelling weapon not only prevents spells from being cast, but can disrupt existing spell effects and even permanently damage magic items.

Ranged dispelling weapons usually take the form of arrows or javelins. Their main purpose is to penetrate force shields. They can also inflict temporary damage to field stabilized earthworks. Outside of pitched battles, their ability to penetrate magical barriers makes them effective for fighting against wizards.

Melee dispelling weapons can take many forms, but the dispelling mace is the most common. This is because the purpose of melee dispelling weapons is not only to penetrate magical barriers, but to damage or destroy magical armor as well as any magical weapons used to parry them. Because melee weapons are reusable, they carry more powerful magic, which is what makes such permanent magical damage possible.
